UNDER THE LIGHTS: Tyler Legacy Red Raiders hoping veterans lead to success in 2024

The Red Raiders open up their season on Thursday, Aug. 29, at Texas High.

TYLER, Texas — The Tyler Legacy Red Raiders are hoping to rely on veteran players to lead them to a successful season in 2024.

With an experienced offensive line featuring Cash Acker, Jadaelyn Jackson, Nathan Power, Eric Miller and Demarrion Johnson, they hope to protect the quarterback and find the end zone on a consistent basis.

Head Coach Beau Trahan says this season is about preaching physicality to his players.

"You know, the physical, most physical team usually wins," Trahan said. "So the things we're working on is really coming together as a team, being efficient, executing and being physical -- the most physical football team on Friday night."

Coach Trahan says two teammates are battling for the starting quarterback vacancy, Zach Davis and Von Lane.

"Both of them, and be more consistent," Coach Trahan said. "And the guy that can show me that will be the guy that's going to try out there for us."

The Red Raiders open up their season on Thursday, Aug. 29, at Texas High.

"Winning the opener, you know, got to take it one game at a time, focusing on getting to this scrimmage against Corsicana in a couple of weeks," Trahan said. "And then,  all our attention is going to be on Texas High. [They have a] very good program in Texas High; I think they're No. 5 in the state."
