#bEASTTEXAS Fabulous 15: Malakoff, Texas High claim No. 1 spots after week 6

The Tyler Morning Telegraph and the Longview News-Journal released the rankings after week 6 concluded.

TYLER, Texas — Malakoff and Texas High remained in the top spots of the #bEASTTexas Fabulous 15 after Week 6 of the high school football season.

Malakoff, which won its 21st consecutive game with a 58-6 rout of Commerce, received all 15 first-place votes in the Class 3A/2A/TAPPS poll.

The remainder of the top five of the small schools stayed the same as Beckville, New Diana and Jefferson kept their spots behind Malakoff. The big change came with No. 13 Liberty-Eylau taking a 36-26 win over No. 6 Tatum, so the Leopards jumped to No. 9, while the Eagles fell to No. 10.

Elysian Fields and Lone Oak joined the poll at Nos. 13 and 15, respectively.

Texas High received all but one of the first-place votes in Class 6A/5A/4A. Carthage received the other first-place vote and checked in at No. 2.

With previously No. 3 Kilgore losing to previous No. 14 Henderson 27-24, the Bulldogs dropped to No. 6, and Henderson moved up to No. 10.

Chapel Hill, Pine Tree and Center rounded out the top five among the big schools.

Notable games this week are No. 6 Kilgore at No. 3 Chapel Hill, No. 5 Center at No. 2 Carthage, No. 7 Longview at Forney, No. 15 Marshall at No. 1 Texas High, West Rusk at No. 3 New Diana, No. 11 Mount Enterprise at Grapeland, No. 2 Beckville at Waskom, Overton at No. 12 Lovelady, Big Sandy at No. 13 Elysian Fields, No. 8 Grand Saline at Edgewood, Rivercrest at Honey Grove and Austin Regents at Grace Community.

Voters in the poll were Phil Hicks and Brandon Ogden of the Tyler Morning Telegraph, Jack Stallard and Thomas Bingham of the Longview News-Journal, Ryan Silapan of the Panola Watchman, Lauren Rosenberg of the Marshall News Messenger, Nathan Hague and John Krueger of the Nacogdoches Daily Sentinel, Edwin Quarles of the Lufkin Daily News, Jay Neal of the Jacksonville Progress, Serenity Douglas and Reagan Roy of CBS 19, Harlen the Sports Guy of the Friday Night Scoreboard Show, Bret Swinney of the Northeast Texas Sports Network/NETSN and Conrad Bahr of 99.9 KMOO FM.
