UNDER THE LIGHTS: Arp Tigers hope to build on 2023 winning season

The Tigers kick off the 2024 season on Friday, Aug. 30, as they host the Harleton Wildcats.

ARP, Texas — High school football is here and this time, we're checking in on the Arp Tigers.

Arp finished their 2023 campaign with an 8-4 record, their second winning season in six years.

This year, they hope to capitalize on last year's success and strive for more, even having lost a four-year starter at quarterback -- Frank Smith.

"We have a couple of people working at it right now so we'll see how it plays out after these next two weeks," said Coach Wes Schminkey.

Despite having lost their signal caller, Coach Schminkey says they have a lot of veterans coming back.

"We have a lot of kids back with lots of experience and they're all doing a great job," Schminkey said. "They're working hard, and doing what we ask them to do and that's all you can ask for."
