UNDER THE LIGHTS PREVIEW | GAME OF THE WEEK: Rockwall vs. Tyler Legacy - When the Red Raiders have the ball

Two Red Raiders have been supercharging their offense.

TYLER, Texas — The letter Z may finish the alphabet, but it starts the Tyler Legacy offense.

“Zay and Zach they’ve had a really good year," Head Coach Beau Trahan said.

Good is an understatement. Quarterback Zach Davis and Zabryan Hood have connected for nearly 750 yards and 6 touchdowns. That doesn’t just lead the team. That leads the entire district.

“We're going to do whatever the defense gives us, whatever the defense dictates, and we're going to go out and take what they give us," Trahan said.

Except it seems that even when the defenses don’t give them clear passing routes, the Davis to Hood connection finds away. An example came early into the season in a game against Tyler High School, where Hood juggled his way into multiple acrobatic catches.

And lately, the Red Raider passing game has only gotten more dangerous.

“Those guys have a very good connection, along with tight end JP Rainer and TK Brown and Micah Igaya, he spreads the ball around pretty well," Trahan said.

Davis has spread it out all the way up to passing for the second most yards in the district, but he's going to need to keep up the efficiency to stay in the race for a playoff bid this season.

“Just think to keep believing, keep keep going back to work each and every week in practice, executing the game plan," Trahan said. "It all comes down to execution.”
