BULLARD, Texas — Bullard High School sophomore Brooklyn Brannen threw a no-hitter and struck out nine batters as she helped her team get the win over Palestine.
Brannen has been playing softball since she was 4 years old, and she has grown a deep love for the sport.
"I love playing it. I love playing with the team," Brannen said. "Obviously, you're to going to strike out every pitch or strike every batter out, but you have to come in and say next ball."
Brannen has a positive outlook on her performances, which adds to her character. She focuses on helping the team, winning and not trying to secure the new greatest stat.
"She's the type of athlete every coach loves to coach," Coach Julie Murry said. "She shows up every day, she's very dependable and competitive day in and day out."
The Panthers have gone 15-5-1, and they are undefeated in the district so far. Brannen already has three no-hitters under her belt so far this season.
Last season, Bullard went undefeated in the district and made it all the way to the regional round before falling to Liberty. Obviously, they'd love to rewrite their path this season by taking it all the way to state championships.
"We want to win. We want to win state," Brannen said. " That (preparation) started in the preseason. We have to figure out what we're doing wrong if we want to win and get better every time."
