WHITEHOUSE, Texas — The Mahomes mania has begun for East Texans as the Kansas City Chiefs head to yet another Super Bowl.
East Texans are bringing a little bit of Vegas to Patrick Mahomes’ hometown in Whitehouse as businesses get ready to celebrate his fourth Super Bowl appearance.
Kenneth Wheeler has been painting windows in Smith County for about 30 years now. Every time the Chiefs are in the Super Bowl, Wheeler gets his yellow and red paint ready to show his spirit.
"It's gonna get really crazy starting every day is the intensity goes higher and higher and higher, because we're just so happy. If they let me, I’d paint the whole town," Wheeler said.
So far, he’s painted windows at eight different businesses across East Texas.
This year, he’s tackled a little different approach on the Chiefs' designs by putting the Taylor Swift effect on it.
Other businesses are taking up the "Swiftie" effect as well - at Rose City Sweets, they’re selling custom Chiefs and Taylor Swift inspired macarons.
Owner Kassie Hopkins said this is their first time doing Chiefs-themed macarons, but she expects it to be a fan favorite, just like Mahomes is in East Texas.
"We were really excited to just have the chance to portray something new. And especially for somebody that's local to East Texas, we're rooting for him, especially since he's local. And we got macs for you for the Super Bowl," Hopkins said.
With the excitement that Mahomes brings to East Texas, businesses like First Class Design and Dance Wear expect to be really busy for the next two weeks.
"We had to get some new designs ready for this year's game. It's going to be real busy real quick. It's typically a pretty big boom for revenue," First Class Design graphic designer Zachary Boynton said.
