East Texas athletes get ready for football season with The Zone magazine pre-season photoshoot

Athletes brought props like chainsaws, sledgehammers, and more, all to add to the excitement around the upcoming football season.

LONGVIEW, Texas — The Zone pre-season magazine photoshoots was held last week at Pine Tree High School for the Longview community. It featured over 200 athletes across 22 teams.

Athletes brought props like chainsaws, sledgehammers, and more, all to add to the excitement around the upcoming football season. Professional pictures were taken for the Longview News-Journal and Tyler Morning Telegraph's magazine that will debut Aug. 25.

Jack Stallard, sports editor for Longview News-Journal, loved the turnout for the first round of photoshoots and the hype of event.

"We started with the idea of doing it so we'd just have all these photos for our football magazine," Stallard said. "For years, everybody has their own media days. And it's hard sometimes to get out to everybody's media days, they have them on the same day. So I came up with the idea about six years ago, to have our own media days and let the kids come to us. This is fun for these kids because we let them come in here. Yeah, get to feel like celebrities for a little bit. I think they have a lot of fun doing this."

The second round of the photoshoot will be this Thursday at Tyler High.
