TYLER, Texas — The Cowboys are on a five-game losing streak after falling to the Texans Monday 34-10, marking their longest losing streak since 2015.
Despite the poor season record, Arp native Demarvion Overshown has shined for Dallas defensively. He leads the team in sacks (4) and tackles for loss (3).
Clarence Hill Jr., a former sports writer for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram who has covered the Cowboys since 1997, is impressed with Overshown's tenacity and considers him a key playmaker for the team.
"Demarvion is great. He is one of the few positives they have this year," Hill said. "If you look at him, the way he's played, and his development, it's really a disappointment that he didn't get to play his rookie year."
Overshown tore his ACL in the final game of the preseason last year, ending his chances to play as a rookie for the Cowboys. Defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer has relied on Overshown more frequently since Micah Parsons' ankle injury, and he's shown great resilience.
"He has a great future here, and he's one of the building blocks," Hill said. "If you just listen to him talk, the joy he has from playing the game, and knowing where he came from— a small-town country boy who was not too big for his britches and really wants to work. It's hard not to like Demarvion Overshown as a player. And I love him."
