ARLINGTON, Texas — Overshown recorded nine tackles and returned a 23-yard interception for a touchdown during the Cowboys' 27-20 win over the Giants, adding another highlight to his impressive resume.
Emerging as a key playmaker for Dallas, he achieved multiple NFL career highs this season, contributing to the team’s recent success.
After missing his entire rookie season due to an ACL tear, Overshown has delivered standout numbers: 84 tackles, including 5.0 sacks, three passes defended, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 12 games.
Head Coach Mike McCarthy praised Overshown's performance during the Thanksgiving game against the Giants.
"It was a great play all the way around, the anticipation, the instincts and really, gaining control of the football," McCarthy said.
Overshown’s consistency and ability to make game-changing plays may earn him increased playing time.
"I think we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg,” McCarthy added. “I've been so impressed with his consistency and approach. That’s going to keep putting him in a position to progress. Frankly, we’re giving him more opportunities because he clearly makes plays from the edge.”
The Cowboys now shift their focus to their upcoming matchup against the Bengals on Monday, December 9.
