CHAPEL HILL, Texas — Chapel Hill is in a sticky situation.
The Bulldogs currently sit in fourth place in their division, under three teams that all have one loss, and have all beat each other. Lindale is sitting right beneath the Bulldogs too, waiting for them to slip up so they can sneak their way into the playoffs.
"There's five teams lobbying for four spots," Chapel Hill head coach Jeff Riordan said. "So a really good team is going to be staying home during the playoffs. A team that could win a lot of districts in the state of Texas is going to be staying home in the playoffs.”
For the Bulldogs to still have a chance at both a playoff and district championship, they need to win against Henderson on Friday, but the same goes for every other team in the division.
Going into the season, this district was titled "the District of Doom," and it has proven itself as such in the final weeks, but Chapel Hill has been not only surviving the games, they're getting better as they go.
"It's been a me grind of a schedule, playing our pre district schedule and our district schedule has been tough, week-in and week-out." Riordan said. "Feel like we're getting better week in and week out. We haven't peaked yet, which is good. We want to peak heading into the last weeks of the season and into the playoffs. So it's been a good year."
A peak on Friday would put them in prime spot to continue playing into the playoffs.
