TYLER - The Lee volleyball team is off to a strong start this year. And on Friday, the Lady Raiders will kick off 11-6A district play.
But before they get to the games that count (in terms of the postseason), Lee had to face a couple of non-district rivals.
The Lady Raiders started the night by taking on Lufkin. This was a very tight match, but Lee went on to win 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-15, 25-16).
Then, it was time for the main event as Lee and John Tyler met for the only time this year. Both teams started strong and the match was close for the first half of the first game. But then the Lady Raiders turned on the jets and pulled away, beating JT 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-9).
Lee and John Tyler will both open district play on Friday...the Lady Raiders play at Rockwall, while the Lady Lions host Jacksonville.
