Update: Tatum teacher arrested after indicted for improper relationship with a student

Kallie Boxell was booked into the Rusk County Jail on a Grand Jury indictment warrant alleging the criminal offense of Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student which is a felony of the second degree.

RUSK COUNTY - On Friday April 8, 2016, 24-year-old Kallie Boxell, of Tatum was arrested when she surrendered herself to Rusk County Sheriff’s Office authorities.

Boxell was processed into the Rusk County Jail on a Rusk County Grand Jury indictment warrant alleging the criminal offense of Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student which is a felony of the second degree.

During the month of March 2016 the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office working in conjunction with the Tatum Police Department, and Rusk County Child Protective Services conducted an investigation into allegations that Boxell a science teacher at the Tatum Middle School had engaged in improper relationships with students at Tatum ISD.

In April of 2016 a case pertaining to the allegations of Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student was presented to the Rusk County Grand Jury. On April 4, 2016 and indictment for Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student was handed down against Kallie Boxell.

If convicted Boxell faces confinement in the Texas Department Criminal Justice Institution Division for a term not to exceed twenty years. The Tatum Police Department and the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office are asking the public to come forward if they have any additional information pertaining to this case or similar cases.
