UPDATE: HAWKINS (KYTX) - A Wood County Grand Jury has indicted a Hawkins man in connection with a December 2014 murder.

Joel Goldsmith is charged with first degree murder in connection with the death of John Cecil who was found dead inside his Hawkins home.

A man is now charged with murder and we now know the name of his alleged victim. CBS 19's Katiera Winfrey breaks down the events that led to the arrest.

Monday, this home was transformed into a crimescene .Policee found John Cecil dead in his home. Thursday police said this Joel Goldsmith is responsible. He's facing charges of possession of marijuana, assault and murder.

The day of the initial investigation, law enforcement kept quiet as media and neighbors asked questions.

"You need to get our of here and I said well what happened, well I'm not at liberty to say," said a neighbor who only wanted to go by Nathan.

Police wouldn't talk on camera, but are finally releasing some information.

According to investigators, Cecil, his wife Stephanie and Goldsmith were in the home when the two men began fighting following an argument over religion.

A battered Stephanie flagged down police and took officer to the home. That's where Goldsmith was reportedly found inside behaving strangely and taken into custody.

Though we have a few answers on this crime, a community is still left with questions about their safety.

"I don't know who's next i mean could it be me, could it be my neighbor or my wife...people are not like they used to be," said Charles Davis who lives in Hawkins.

A cause of death has not been released for cecil. Police also haven't said what weapon -- if any -- was used to kill him.
