NACOGDOCHES COUNTY (KYTX) -- A Nacogdoches man and woman are in jail after investigators with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff Office seized cocaine, PCP and a stolen firearm from three different locations in Nacogdoches County.
Sheriff Jason Bridges stated that the duo have been under investigation for some time and are believed to have been dealing large amounts of narcotics.
James Grigsby was arrested by the Nacogdoches County Sheriff Office in 2013 after investigators found nearly 2 pounds of cocaine at his residence. Investigators had recently received information that Grigsby and Schanda Handy both from Nacogdoches, Texas were dealing a high volume of narcotics. During the investigation in 2013, investigators also seized a large amount of codeine that belonged to Grigsby at his club on Fm 225.
Both James Grigsby and Schanda Handy operate and manage club Metros II located on Fm 225 in Nacogdoches, County. Investigators have obtained information that both subjects have been dealing large amounts of narcotics from that club.
On Thursday Morning, Investigators gained consent to search a residence on West Spradley Street that belongs to Schanda Handy. During the search, investigators found 6 ounces of cocaine that were hidden inside a closet in her bedroom. Also found at the residence were several instruments used in the manufacturing of crack cocaine.
Investigators then went to a residence that belongs to James Grigsby at Eastwood Terrace. After obtaining permission to conduct a search, investigators found a stolen pistol that was hidden inside a night stand. The pistol had been reported stolen since 2006 from a burglary of a motor vehicle inside the city of Nacogdoches.
Investigators then conducted a search of a storage building on South Street that was linked back to Grigsby. Investigators had received information that Grigsby was storing narcotics inside the building. During the search, investigators found over 17 pounds of PCP inside of the storage building.
James Grigsby 46 years of age and Schanda Handy 44 years of age were both arrested and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail. Handy has been charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance a 1st felony. Grigsby has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felony 2nd felony, Theft of a firearm state jail felony, and Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled substance 1st felony.
Grigsby was out on bond prior to his arrest and is currently awaiting federal charges stemming from his drug arrest by the Sheriff Office in 2013.
