TYLER, Texas — The Tyler Fire Department will go door-to-door to check smoke alarms in Tyler homes Wednesday as a part of a "Fire Safety Blitz."
The initiative is in responsible to the recent fire on North Grand Avenue that claimed the lives of three people and injured two more.

Firefighters will start at about 9 a.m. in the area near Miles Chapel CME Church. They will continue to concentrate in that area.
During the blitz, firefighters will knock on residents' doors to check smoke alarms, replace batteries and even install free alarms if needed.
The entire blitz is expected to last at least four hours.
