LONGVIEW, Texas — Longview mayor Andy Mack is encouraging residents to thank city crews and first responders as they work to clean up the area after storms ripped through the region on Wednesday.

Wednesday night, Mayor Mack delivered food to crews around the city and thanked them for the services they are providing area residents.

Mayor Mack made the following statement on his social media page as he visited with crews working to clear roadways of debris from all parts of the city:

Tonight when you lay your head down on your pillow, I hope you will be thinking and praying for the hardworking men and women out cleaning our streets to try to restore us to some form of normalcy soon.

I delivered Chick-Fil-A to as many of them as I could tonight and you would have thought I was serving up filet mignon. They were just so thankful.

Longview, these people deserve gratitude, high-fives and all the love we can give them because they are doing the things we couldn’t possibly know how to do.

How can you help?

  • Find a neighbor who needs help moving or cutting up a tree
  • Deliver some water to the officers working where lights are down.
  • Offer food to your coworkers whose power is out.
  • Extend your home to your friends who sustained damages.
  • Pray for our town.

You know, be neighborly. We are good at that. Let your light shine. You know what to do. Just get out there and do it.

I am so thankful for the kindnesses I have seen already and am hoping for a better tomorrow.
