Neighbors living near the spot where two women were shot to death Friday in Longview opened up about what happened.
One woman who lives near Johnson Street where the shooting happened was afraid to be identified.
She said she feels this year's crime rate is worse than last year.
"I think it's been getting worse this year," said the neighbor.
Police said 23-year-old, Amber Johnson, and 25-year-old, Melekia Montgomery, were shot near the Johnson Street Apartments.
Both were transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center where they died from their injuries.
Neighbors said the shooting is tough to deal with knowing the victims had children.
"They say when they pulled up and they saw the two girls and a guy, but then they pulled around to the back and that's when they started hearing the shots," said the neighbor.
CBS 19 pulled previous arrest records and the two women were both arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Amber was arrested in January 2016 and released in June.
Melekia's arrest was in 2012.
Neighbors said the two were good people who would do anything for anyone.
Neighbors also said they were having a tough time dealing with the deaths because both women were mothers.
"If we get more activities for the young people to be involved in like mentorships and things for them to do, it would cut down on some of the crime," said neighbor.
