TYLER, Texas — A good Samaritan driving nearby helped get country music artist Sundance Head to a Tyler hospital after an accidental shooting Friday night.
In a Facebook post, his wife Misty said her husband has been released from the hospital late Friday night and made it home early Saturday morning.
She also explained how her husband in the stomach while hunting on his ranch. She said that the gun was not his hunting rifle and nobody shot him.
"He was out of the vehicle reaching in to grab his 22 when he grabbed it the 22 came out of its holster and hit the exterior of the Jeep just right and went off. Sundance said it happened so fast and he could see the bullet dislodging," Misty Head said.
She said that he reached for his phone to call 911, but when he couldn't find it, he ran to the main road in an attempt to flag down a car. After 10 cars drove by, someone finally stopped, turned around and called 911.
"He’s so lucky and grateful to be alive. Thank you to the good Samaritan who stopped and helped and the fast response by life flight and the doctors," Misty Head said.
Sundance Head is the winner of season 11 of "The Voice." He also competed on "American Idol," in 2007, but was eliminated before the final round. He went on to win "The Voice," in 2017 as part of Team Blake Shelton.
