The Nacogdoches Police Department addressed an incident Wednesday night involving an off-duty police officer working at Overlook Apartments.
According to the Nacogdoches Police Department, the officer encountered a large group of people during a criminal trespass investigation. The department says the complex has an ongoing problem with trespassing and burglary.
When the officer told the individuals to stay while the officer was working the investigating whether or not they were trespassing.
Police say two of the suspects resisted arrest while a third fled on foot. Police say the officer suffered minor injuries after a suspect assaulted him. He was taken to the hospital and later released.
Lindsey Ogbonna, 19, was arrested and charged with resisting arrest.
Police are investigating the assault on the officer and may file further charges.
Due to concerns from the community, Nacogdoches police released the dash cam video in an effort to be transparent during their investigation.
