MARSHALL, Texas — The City of Marshall will soon implement changes regarding trash pickup in the city.
The new garbage and recycling collection schedule will begin Feb. 4. Collection will happened once per week.
Republic Services will deliver 96-gallon garbage and recycle carts to all residents and business who do not currently have a cart.
Customers who already have a cart will have their cart fees removed from their trash bill.
The new schedule will follow a five-day routine to cover the city:
- Monday (Yellow) – Addresses east of State Highway 59 , including even-numbered addresses on State Highway 59 (Yellow area depicted on the map)
- Tuesday (Orange) – Addresses north of Pinecrest Dr.; west of State Highway 59; and south of State Highway 80, including odd-numbered addresses on State Highway 59 and Pinecrest and even-numbered addresses on State Highway 80
- Wednesday – City wide recycle pick-up
- Thursday (Pink) – addresses north of State Highway 80; and west of State Highway 59, including odd-numbered addresses on State Highway 80
- Friday (Violet) - Addresses south of Pinecrest Dr.; and west of State Highway 59, including odd-numbered addresses on State Highway 59 and even-numbered addresses on Pinecrest.
The city says downtown businesses will still have trash pick up four days per week.
The city will send out flyers to residents explaining the new schedule and procedures.
Among the procedures the city will address:
- Acquiring more carts
- Placement of carts and recyclables
- Scheduling bulk pick up (leaf pick up)
The city says carts must be put on the street at 7 a.m. on the morning of service and moved within 24 hours of service. Overloaded carts will not be serviced.
