Lufkin man arrested after alleged shooting, kidnapping and brief standoff with police

One person is in custody after allegedly kidnapping his girlfriend and shooting another person in an apartment complex in Lufkin on May 12.

LUFKIN (KYTX) – One person is in custody after allegedly kidnapping his girlfriend and shooting another person in an apartment complex in Lufkin on May 12.

According to a police report, in the early hours of May 12, authorities received multiple calls of a shooting victim in the parking lot of Hidden Oaks II on Tulane Drive in Lufkin. According to witnesses, 39-year-old Zane Williams was seen arguing with 35-year-old Amos Clary in the parking lot just before the shooting. Williams allegedly shot Clary, kidnapped his girlfriend and fled in a white pickup.

Police located Williams a short time later at a trailer home in Trinity County, and arrested him after a brief standoff. The girlfriend was released unharmed.

Clary remains in critical condition at Memorial Hermann in Houston.

Williams is charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

This case remains under investigation.
