GREGG COUNTY, Texas — A Longview woman who was charged in connection with a fatal arson case has been transferred back to Gregg County.

According to Gregg County judicial records, Kimberly Bruton, 33, was placed in the Gregg County Jail on Tuesday, March 26.

Prior to being brought back to Longview, Bruton was in the Denton County Correctional Center on a separate arson charge.

On March 9, 2018, a duplex, located at 103 Cherie Lane, in Longview, went up in flames. As a result Randall Russell and his daughter Lisa Tesmer were both killed.

Bruton was originally arrested by authorities the night of the fire, but was released due to a lack of sufficient evidence.

She was taken into custody in Denton two months later on an unrelated arson charge.

After her arrest in Denton, Bruton spoke with authorities, revealing information that led the Denton Fire Marshal’s Office to call Longview officials.

Bruton was then re-interviewed by Longview fire investigators.

According to law enforcement, Bruton said she took a burning piece of board out of the fireplace and put it on a chair. The fire on the chair eventually spread throughout the home, causing the house to catch fire that killed Russell and Tesmer.

She remains in the Gregg County Jail.
