Longview police arrested a 64-year-old man Monday afternoon after they say he reportedly struck another man with a tree limb several times and used it to damage the victim’s car; a video seems to show the other man initiating the confrontation.
Frank Sonny Wade III of Longview was being held Tuesday on a $15,000 bond in Gregg County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, jail records show.
Police arrested Wade after responding at 2:56 p.m. to a report of fight at Mobberly Avenue and Humble Drive and finding a man staggering with a bloodied head, the report said. He told police that Wade hit him and then walked down Humble Drive.
