TYLER, Texas — While the COVID-19 pandemic will not doubt be remembered as a trying time in history, it has also brought out the best in people. There are stories from all over the world of people performing extraordinary acts of generosity and kindness.

In Tyler, one such story involves the humility of Chef Carlos at Bobaloompia.

As with many restaurants, the COVID-19 pandemic hit both the restaurant and its employees hard economically. Chef Carlos wanted to help in any way he could.

Chef Carlos called the restaurant's accounting asking for a decrease in his salary. He said to the accountant he would be happy to go back to his original salary from when he started with Bobaloompia if it could help.

On Saturday, after moving back to his original pay, Chef Carlos called the accountant a second time. He asked for yet another reduction to help other employees at Bobaloompia who had their hours reduced.

The restaurant showed their appreciation for Chef Carlos' generosity on Facebook:

"Thank you for your kindness, Chef Carlos! We are so blessed to have you! You are an inspiration! May God bless you and your family always!"
