TYLER, Texas — A woman has died after she was struck by a vehicle while sitting at the bus stop near Einstein Bros Bagels in Tyler on Tuesday.

According to Tyler police, officials responded to the French Quarter shopping center parking lot around 3:20 p.m., on reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle.

Police say a truck traveling northbound on S. Broadway Ave. went off the road and hit a woman who was sitting at the bus stop.

The woman, identified as Sandra Abrego, 43, was taken to a local hospital where she later passed away from her injuries.

Abrego had moved to Tyler from Houston a couple of months ago for work, according to her daughter Blanca Diaz.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with Abrego's funeral expenses and bring her back to El Salvador.

A vigil will be held for Abrego at a later date. Tyler police is still investigating this incident.

This case remains under investigation.
