Woman who died after being pinned between vehicles identified as City of Bullard employee

Smith County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Andy Dunklin ordered the woman's body be sent to Forensic Medical in Tyler for an autopsy.

TYLER, Texas — The City of Bullard has identified the woman who died following what officials believe was an accident overnight in Smith County as a city employee.

According to the Smith County Sheriff's Office, on Tuesday, around 11:30 p.m. deputies responded to a business in the 13000 block of County Road 192 (Old Noonday Road) in Tyler in regards to a suspicious activity call.

When deputies arrived, they found a woman who had died.

Further investigation revealed the woman was performing custodial services at the location. While outside preparing to load a pickup with trash, the victim became pinned between two vehicles and died as result of her injuries.

The SCSO says the driver’s side door of the truck was open and pushed all the way into the front quarter panel. Officials say the truck was still running and was in reverse. At this time, this incident appears to be accidental.

The City of Bullard identified the woman as Jennifer MacWhirter. MacWhirter served as the city's human resources manager.

"We are deeply saddened to share news of the loss of a member of our Bullard City Hall Family, Jennifer MacWhirter," the city said in a statement. "Jennifer was our Human Resources Director and had been with us since 2004. She was always checking on others and willing to help where it was needed. She will be truly missed. Please respect the family during this difficult time and keep them in your thoughts and prayers."

Smith County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Andy Dunklin ordered MacWhirter's body be sent to Forensic Medical in Tyler for autopsy.
