Winterfest fundraiser event to benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in East Texas

Winterfest is a 5K fun run or walk that will feature vendors, live music, food trucks on the Legacy Trail next to the coffeeshop, The Coco Bean.

TYLER, Texas — A first-of-its-kind Winterfest is coming to East Texas to benefit the local Children's Miracle Network at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Health System.

Two organizations passionate about health and wellness, F45 Legacy Trail and the Children's Miracle Network, are linking up for an inaugural 5K this Saturday.

Winterfest is a 5K fun run or walk that will feature vendors, live music, food trucks on the Legacy Trail next to the coffeeshop, The Coco Bean.

Alex Ezell owns F45 Legacy Trail, a gym that focuses on helping the community achieve fitness goals. As a mother of two young babies, she saw the need inside the miracle hospital at Christus Mother Frances in Tyler, and she wanted to make a difference.

"We wanted to be confident that it was going directly to families and Tyler that needed it," Ezell said.

That led her to reach out to CMN Manager Christina Mosier, who helps lead fundraising for the CMN in East Texas.

"It's really exciting to see new businesses in the community, seek out ways to help others," Mosier said.

All the proceeds go directly to help support the CMN’s goal of helping provide care for miracle children in East Texas.

"The need will always be there. The kids will always need us. And if we are not meeting those needs, we're not doing our job. So when those community events come up that are brand new, it's really exciting," Mosier said. "What can we do next to help kids?"

Helping children and spending a fun Saturday with the family, organizers say it doesn’t get much better than that.

"You don't know if you're going to need this place," Ezell said. "It's an incredible organization that doing so much good directly here in Tyler."

The 5K will be held Saturday, Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. Those who want to register can click here.
