Winona ISD hosts Veterans Day with alum as keynote speaker

Honored veterans were guided by FFA members for the “Armed Forces Salute”, with representatives from the United States Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy and Air Force

WINONA, Texas — Students, teachers and staff of Winona ISD gathered at the high school gymnasium Friday for the annual Veterans Day program.

The Winona High School Band began the program with the “Washington Post March”, followed by the presentation of the American and Texas state flags by Betsy Millan and Brinlee Norman, members of Winona High School’s FFA.

Honored veterans were guided by the FFA members for the “Armed Forces Salute”, with representatives from the United States Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy and Air Force. Lilly Thurston led the audience with the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag, and Alek Vega led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Texas flag.
