Whitehouse ISD to consider 'Guardian Plan' at upcoming school board meeting

Due to health and safety concerns related to COVID-19, this meeting will be conducted by videoconference.

WHITEHOUSE, Texas — The Whitehouse Independent School District Board of Trustees will consider adopting the "Guardian Plan" during a Monday evening special meeting.

According to the Texas Education Agency, the "Guardian Plan" allows school boards to authorize certain school employees to carry firearms on campuses at all times. It also lets school boards designate the training standards for those specific employees, reports the Texas Tribune.

Due to health and safety concerns related to COVID-19, this meeting will be conducted by videoconference.

The meeting will also be streamed on the Whitehouse ISD website.

Public comments related to this meeting will be handled as follows: 

  • Sign up in person at the Whitehouse ISD Education Support Center, located at 104 Highway 110 North in Whitehouse
  • Send a request via Zoom Chat from 5:30 p.m. - 5:50 p.m. on Monday
