UT Tyler to appear on Amazon Prime's series 'The College Tour'

The show is geared to be like a real-life tour of the campus, where viewers get to hear from some of the students as a recruiting tool.

TYLER, Texas — The UT Tyler campus had a special film crew on campus this week.

The Amazon Prime show, "The College Tour," has been in Tyler this week filming the campus and different hot spots around Tyler to feature the university in an episode.

The show is geared to be like a real-life tour of the campus, where viewers get to hear from some of the students as a recruiting tool. Ten UT Tyler students were chosen from auditions to participate in the episode.

The show started as a way for host Alex Boylan, the 2022 winner of the "The Amazing Race," to help his niece find a college, but during that time he did not have the funds to travel to all the campuses in America.

"It's great to have 'The College Tour' on campus at the University of Texas at Tyler. There's a lot of great reasons," Boylan said. "It's an amazing institution. Being the first medical school in East Texas was a huge draw for 'The College Tour' to come here. But watching this enrollment starting to grow year after year, and this park-like campus is a beautiful place to go to school, and it's a lot of amazing stories. And so we knew we had to tell it, and it's really great to be here."

An airdate for the episode on UT Tyler has not been released just yet.
