TYLER, Texas — The UT Tyler Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy recently welcomed 42 first-year pharmacy students in a "white coat ceremony", to mark the beginning of their pharmacy careers.
“Receiving your first white coat is a significant milestone that signifies the beginning of a lifelong commitment to patient care and professional excellence,” the Fisch College of Pharmacy Dean Dr. Amy Schwartz said. “We are excited to welcome the class of 2028 and watch them grow into compassionate and skilled pharmacists.”
The event, done in partnership with Walgreens, had the incoming students recite the Pledge of Professionalism in their new coats, signifying their commitment to clinical care. Leading local names in the pharmaceutical community, such as Dr. RoxAnn Dominguez, the Texas Pharmacy Association CEO, who was the keynote speaker for the event.
For those interested in joining the students next year, UT Tyler is hosting an open house from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 in the W.T. Brookshire Hall lobby.
