TYLER, Texas — First-year students from the UT Tyler Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy received their white coats during a recent ceremony, marking the beginning of their journey to earn their Doctor of Pharmacy Education.
Twenty-two students were a part of the ceremony and Jay Bueche, the managing director of pharmacy at H-E-B, served as the keynote speaker.
“Receiving your first white coat is a significant moment for students, as they officially enter the profession of pharmacy,” said Dr. Amy Schwartz, Fisch College of Pharmacy dean. “The faculty and student body look forward to officially welcoming our new students to the profession and the Fisch College of Pharmacy family.”
Bueche told the pharmacy students that they should work to be a positive change. SaMoan Brown, a second-year pharmacy student, served as the class representative and guest speaker. The students also recited the Pledge of Professionalism and donned their white coats to show their commitment to prioritizing clinical service and care.
For students interested in fall 2024 admission, the pharmacy college will be hosting an open house 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, in the W.T. Brookshire Hall lobby. For more information, contact pharmacy admissions at 903.565.5777 or pharmacy@uttyler.edu.
