TYLER, Texas — The University of Texas at Tyler celebrated the largest enrollment year in the institution's history.
As of the fall 2024 semester, UT Tyler has admitted 10,541 students, which is a 7.75% increase in enrollment from the year before, according to UT Tyler.
"We are energized by the growth on our campus," UT Tyler president Julie V. Philley said. "I want to thank our admissions team, faculty and staff for their dedication to supporting our students, as well as our recruitment and retention initiatives."
Freshman enrolling in their first year of college made up 1,426 of the total preliminary enrollment, which is a 7.5% increase from the previous record year of 2022. Retention rates among graduate and professional students also grew, with graduate enrollment seeing a growl of 14.02% with a preliminary enrollment of 2,765, according to UT Tyler.
"We are delighted by the historic enrollment this fall, as we also saw the largest semester credit hours generated in university history," Amir Mirmiran, UT Tyler provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, said. "The Number of semester credit hours generated is a benchmark of overall university performance and quality."
Preliminary Fall 2024 Enrollment Highlights include:
- Largest First-Time in College (FTIC) class in institutional history: 1,426
- Largest freshman class in institutional history: 1,483
- Largest semester credit hours (SCH) generated in institutional history: 114,824
- Largest number of freshman applications – 6,498 • Largest number of freshman admits: 5,111
- Largest number of freshman confirmations – 1,651 • Largest number of incoming freshman students awarded aid: 2,991
- Largest increase in graduate enrollment, the highest in the last two years: 14.02%/2,765
