TYLER, Texas — UT Health East Texas announced on Thursday evening that they are entering divert status in their emergency rooms.
Divert status indicates that patients being transported by ambulances or through air-lifts are being directed to different facilities.
In a statement from the hospital system, they say, "We became aware of a network outage due to a potential security incident that is affecting UT Health East Texas. As we work to assess the impact of this outage and restore access, we are following established downtime protocols."
The last time UT Health East Texas had to go into divert status was in January 2018 when doctors saw a large number of patients with flu-like symptoms.
The hospital system says putting their emergency rooms on divert status is being treated as a precaution as they continue to bring their systems back online.
Currently, UT Health Tyler anticipates that their network access will be restored within the next 24 to 36 hours while assisting patients seeking primary care.
CBS19 reached out to the hospital for further comment and details but was told they had no new information to provide as of Friday afternoon.
