ARP, Texas — As a new school year gets underway, hundreds of East Texas teachers received an inspirational talk from U.S. Congressman Nathaniel Moran.
Moran, who represents a majority of East Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives, was at Arp High School Monday morning ahead of the 2024-25 school year for a special educators appreciation address.
He spoke to teachers and staff from several districts including Mount Enterprise, West Rusk, Sabine and Arp ISDs.
Moran said he's appreciative of the educators and called them heroes.
"Those three elements make up a hero in this life - somebody with courage, with outstanding achievements, with noble qualities who is admired because of that," Moran said. "You know who else I think fits that definition? Educators."
About 350 people attended the event to the message from Moran.
