Over the course of the next 20 years, Tyler Water Utilities is aiming to have an annual meter replacement until all water meters have been adequately upgraded.

TYLER, Texas — Tyler Water Utilities is getting ready to begin their expansive water meter replacement project for its residents.

The $3.45 million project has been approved by the Tyler City Council and will work with Core & Main to replace the water meters.

According to the press release, the current water metering system, which was installed in 2005, have a history of accurately measuring water usage and are not registering consumption and communicating with the Water Business Office.

"Technology has advanced, and we know there’s a better solution for our customers with meters that aren't working properly," said Utilities Director Kate Dietz. "Replacing those meters will allow our customers to rest easy and know that their water bill is accurate."
