TYLER, Texas — Tyler ISD surprised fifteen "Rise Up Program" students with $1,200 scholarships on Friday.
These scholarships, part of the June S. Flock Scholarship Endowment established last year, aims to empower and encourage students interested in healthcare careers to achieve their academic goals.
"We are thrilled to partner with Tyler Junior College in awarding the June S. Flock Healthcare Scholarships to these deserving students," Christus Health mission integration program director Siretha Toston said. "These scholarships represent our commitment to nurturing future healthcare professionals and supporting their educational journey."
Each student received $1,200 to use toward furthering their education at TJC. The scholarships are renewable if students remain in good standing with the college.
The fifteen students awarded the scholarship include: MaHaliah Billington, Amy Espinoza, Emily Hernandez, Rosa Lamas, Ahnesty Shurme, Emily Solis, Allison Williams, Karen Delgadillo, Jossimar Garcia, Rozlyn Hamm, Shavonna Holmes, Sarah Johnson, Mallory Kniffen, Odalys Rangel, and Cameron Sanchez.
According to Tyler ISD, the Rise Up program was developed as a partnership between CHRISTUS and TJC to educate high school students on different pathways in health care, providing them with insight into health care and encourage them to pursue a career in the industry.
