POLICE: Man accused of assaulting his father, causing standoff at Tyler home arrested

He is charged with criminal trespass and injury to an elderly person. Police identified the suspect as the son and the victim as the father.

TYLER, Texas — The man, who was at the center of a standoff in Tyler for allegedly assaulting his father, was arrested Wednesday afternoon. 

Police said the standoff at a home in the 900 block of Derrick Court has come to an end. The suspect, who has been identified as Adam Noell, 41, of Tyler, was arrested on North Broadway Ave. and Elm Street. 

Noell is charged with criminal trespass and injury to an elderly person. Police identified the suspect as the son and the victim as the father, who has been taken to the hospital for his injuries. He was taken to the Tyler Police Department station for an interview. 

Officers learned of the assault when the father came to the Tyler police south station with significant injuries. Noell was bloodied and told police that a family member assaulted him. A standoff began at the Derrick Court home, where police believed there were weapons in the residence.
