TYLER, Texas — A couple students at Andy Woods Elementary in Tyler received a sweet surprise from a special someone.
For Noah and her sister Rena, it was a regular day in class at Andy Woods Elementary as they were getting ready for the popsicle party. But little did they know they had a special guest visiting. Embraced with open arms and smiles, Noah and Rena were reunited with their dad, Hugh Bui, who was deployed in Honduras for 10 months.
"I was surprised because I didn't know when he's going to come back," daughter Noah Bui said.
For Noah, the oldest daughter of three, she didn’t know when or if she would ever see her dad again.
"Sometimes I cry when I see him because I miss him," Noah said.
Although they connected through FaceTime during his time away, Hugh said nothing compares to being together in-person.
"I just want to squeeze them as much as I can. And just squeeze them, kiss them. When you have it, appreciate it," Hugh Bui said.
Being in the military, the future is unknown for Hugh Bui and his family. But for now, he’s going to cherish the moments they have together.
"We don't have to do anything fancy just family time. That's all. That's all I need," he said.
It was a reunion the Bui family will never forget.
