TYLER, Texas — A Tyler man has been arrested for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
According to Smith County judicial records, Eugenio Gonzalez-Hernandez, 19, was arrested Tuesday by the Smith County Sheriff's Office.
The SCSO says around 10:15 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 23, deputies responded to a residence on CR 326 W., regarding the sexual assault of a child.
Officials say during the investigation, they were told Gonzalez-Hernandez sexually assaulted a 7-year-old girl.
"During the initial course of this investigation, deputies were able to establish probable cause to indicate that Eugenio did sexually assault the child victim," the SCSO said. "Smith County Investigators also responded to the scene for further investigation which ultimately resulted in further interviewing of the suspect."
Authorities obtained a search and arrest affidavit, and took Gonzalez-Hernandez into custody. He was booked into the Smith County Jail on $750,000 bond.
"Smith County investigators facilitated a forensic interview with the 7-year-old victim by professionals with the Children’s Advocacy Center in Tyler," the SCSO said. "This ultimately assures that the child will receive the appropriate physical and mental assistance to help her get through this traumatic event."
