TYLER, Texas — Three East Texas students were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements.
According to Tyler ISD, three high school students have been commended at the national level for their exceptional academic promise by the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.

William Barker, Shloak Dalal and Michael Wood are three of only 34,000 commended students nationwide after qualifying for the program through their Preliminary SAT and National Merit Qualifying Test scores.
“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments and the key role their schools play in their academic development is vital to advancing educational excellence in our nation."
