A Tyler middle schooler is being recognized for several first place medals in the Junior Olympics over a years-long career.
Aubree Madison is a sixth grader at Hubbard Middle School who, at just 11 years old, has set her sights on the Olympics. Beginning her career in 2021, Aubree is now a nationally ranked swimmer, and she took her talent to North Carolina this week to compete in six individual events against groups with up to 118 other swimmers, emerging victorious in every single one.
When asked how she felt when she learned she earned first place in all her events, Aubree replied, “I was excited and happy and proud of myself.”
She ranked the following times across six events:
- 1st place 50 L Free – 32.42
- 1st place 100 L Fly – 1:22.88
- 1st place 50 L Fly – 35.24
- 1st place 50 L Breast – 42.59
- 1st place 100 L Free – 1:11.99
- 1st place 100 L Breast – 1:34.88
Tyler ISD celebrated her achievements at the Tyler ISD Aquatic Center on Thursday, marking what the district says promises to be an impressive swimming journey for this young Olympian.
“She’s got that combination of natural talent, work ethic, and then that intangible, I call it the eye of the tiger,” Tyler Rose Aquatics Development Coach Stan McDonald said. “She’s got the eye of the tiger; she’s a racer. And that’s what it takes to get to that next level, and I expect her to go to the next level.”
