Crews rescue man, dog from Tyler house fire

As of 11:15 a.m. Thursday, the fire is under control, according to Adkinson.

TYLER, Texas — No injuries were reported after a house fire on East Dawson Street in Tyler Thursday morning.

Tyler Fire Department Assistant Chief Kelly Adkinson said firefighters responded to a call around 10:30 a.m. for a structure fire in the 1500 block of East Dawson Street. Nearby off-duty firefighters arrived to the scene, followed by emergency first responders. A caller reported hearing a the sound of an explosion from the residence. Adkinson said they have ruled out the possibility of an explosion, but are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Officials added that a man was in the home when it caught fire, but he was able to escape the house with help from off-duty firefighters, according to the Tyler Patrolman's Association.  As of 11:15 a.m., the fire is under control, according to Adkinson.
