TYLER, Texas — With just three days remaining until the total solar eclipse on Monday, one local doctor is gearing up to capture the big event.
Dr. Scott M. Lieberman is the Tyler cardiologist that famously photographed the space shuttle Columbia disintegrating as it entered the atmosphere over Texas on Feb. 1, 2003.
Looking ahead to Monday, Lieberman is focused on finding the best location to capture pictures of the eclipse.
“I may end up situating myself in Tyler or Dallas, or possibly Indianapolis, or going to Vermont,” Lieberman said. “We're really waiting to see where the weather predictions take us.”
Lieberman said that in Tyler, people experience totality for about thirty seconds to two minutes, depending on your location within the city. He added that people closer to Canton will have the opportunity to experience totality for a longer duration.
