East Texas boutique offers special pet supplies, donates partial proceeds to no-kill animal rescues

Business owner Lesley Fagg said she noticed a gap in the Tyler area for specialized pet supplies for dogs and cats after she adopted her dog Jax.

TYLER, Texas — Tyler will soon have a new boutique that will appeal to pet lovers.

Whether you're a dog parent or cat parent, at Bonejour Jax, customers can find toys, dog food and custom pet clothes.

Business owner Lesley Fagg said she noticed a gap in the Tyler area for specialized pet supplies for dogs and cats after she adopted her dog Jax from the SPCA of East Texas.

In 2015, Jax, a toy poodle mix and also the chief furry officer or CFO, was found dumped on the side of the road in Jacksonville. He was severely dehydrated and matted.

Jax's recovery and bond with his owner inspired Fagg to create a business to give back to organizations like the SPCA of East Texas.

Fagg said she's not only focused on those four-legged friends but the people who care for them.

"Oh come on who doesn't want to spend there day with their dog and meet other cute fur babies and helping them and helping pet owners," Fagg said. "Because I can tell you just like myself so many pet owners struggle (and) stress about are they doing everything they can for their fur baby and they have questions. And they don't always know who to turn to."

The boutique is planning to dedicate a percent of its proceeds to no-kill rescue organizations.

"It takes this entire community whether you're a foster parent for us or a donor or you're just helping us spread the word about getting our mission out there," said SPCA of East Texas Executive Director Emily Heglund. "Whatever role you're filling it takes everybody to make our venture successful."

Bonejour Jax, located at 2376 Dueling Oaks Drive in Tyler, will officially open Friday at noon.
