Tyler becomes third Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community

Governor Abbott congratulated the city on the certification.

TYLER, Texas — The City of Tyler Tuesday was named the third Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community Tuesday, catching the eye of Governor Greg Abbott.

"I congratulate the City of Tyler and Visit Tyler on earning this designation," Abbott said. "“Tourism is critical to both our local and state economies, supporting one in 11 jobs across Texas."

Tourism Friendly Texas is an organization that encourages communities to pursue the development of tourism. They develop and strengthen relationships with partners in the communities and assist communities with tourism resources. All cities are eligible to join the organization.

“Tyler’s recognition as a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community underscores the significant role it plays in our state’s travel economy,” Travel Texas Director Tim Fennell said. “From its famous rose gardens to its thriving arts scene and charming downtown, Tyler has long been a place where visitors can experience the best of East Texas hospitality. We are honored to recognize the city’s continued leadership in tourism through this designation.”
