Tyler airport prepped, ready for holiday season travel

Airport Manager Steve Thompson said the staff does not expect weather to impact aircraft coming in and out of Tyler.

TYLER, Texas — All major ports of travel are busy around the holiday season, and East Texas is no different.

Tyler Pounds Regional Airport is smooth sailing so far. On Friday, all three flights from the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and back to DFW are running on time.

Airport Manager Steve Thompson said the staff does not expect weather to impact aircraft coming in and out of Tyler.

"Of course, travel delays start at DFW or throughout the system we can feel that trickle down effect," Thompson said.

Thompson said the busiest day of travel over the holiday will be next Tuesday as everyone returns home after Christmas.
