TYLER, Texas — One of two Tyler men charged with capital murder for allegedly killing another man during a 2021 home robbery will go to trial Monday.
Zaccheus Dunn, 27, and Dakevian Beniot Scroggins, 29, are both charged with capital murder in connection with the shooting death of Christopher Frank Eiglebiger, 33, on May 13, 2021.
Eiglebiger was found dead in the 800 block of Crosby Street in Tyler. Officers learned Eiglebiger had been shot numerous times at his home. Evidence led police to believe his death was targeted.
Court records show Dunn's trial will begin Monday morning in the 7th District Court. The trial is expected to last two weeks.
Scroggins' trial will begin after Dunn's trial is finished.
Prosecutors have chosen not to seek the death penalty for both Scroggins and Dunn. They could face life in prison without parole if found guilty of capital murder.
