TJC debuting program to put graduates to work immediately

The new Associate of Applied Science program will begin during the Fall 2018 Semester.

TYLER — Beginning Fall of 2018, TJC will offer a new degree for an Associate of Applied Science in industrial maintenance technology.

The program will be at the school's Energy Center at TJC West on 1530 South Southwest Loop 323 in Tyler.

The degree is formed for people who excel in several industrial disciplines and will prepare students for various careers guided by an industry-based curriculum involving hands-on learning.

Dean of the TJC School of Professional and Technical Programs, Dr. Bryan Renfro said the school "worked directly with leaders from Tyler Pipe, Trane/Ingersoll-Rand, Sanderson Farms, Nestle, Target, Eastman Chemical and others to develop a curriculum so students can go directly into the workforce after they graduate.”

According to the college, students who graduate with the degree can expect an average pay range of $50,000 to $100,000 a year.
