TYLER, Texas — Theatre TJC is kicking off its 2024-25 season with Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein" this week.
Tyler Junior College theatre professor Jacob L. Davis is directing the show. It'll kick off at 7:30 p.m. this Wednesday with shows continuing at the same time nightly through Saturday, Oct. 12 in the Wise Auditorium, located in the Rogers Palmer Performing Arts Center on the TJC central campus. Because of the mature content, parents should use discretion.
Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for seniors ages 65 and up, students and active military. Box office hours are 3 to 5:30 p.m. weekdays. Tickets can be purchased online at TJC.UniversityTickets.com. For reservations, call 903-510-2212.
In the play adapted from Shelley's novel, Dr. Victor Frankenstein’s bewildered Creature is cast out into a hostile universe and it seeks to track down his creator.
Ethan “Texas” Beam, TJC alumnus and theatre facilities director, portrays the Creature and he stopped by CBS19's Morning Y'all to talk about the production.
Other 2024-25 main stage productions include:
• “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight” (Nov. 13 to 16) — an original work by Beam
• “Jesus Christ Superstar” (Feb. 19 to 22) — the classic, award-winning rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice
• “Antigone” (April 2 to 5) — Sophocles’ Greek tragedy of politics, leadership and moral duty, adapted by TJC theatre professor Denise Weatherly-Green
